October 23, 2018

-

Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre, Singapore

The Asia-Singapore Infrastructure Roundtable is the premier platform for dialogue between government leaders, policy makers, investors and infrastructure companies on Asian infrastructure projects.

This was the eighth run and since its inauguration, it has attracted more than 1600 industry practitioners, with over US$8 billion worth of projects discussed. This Roundtable hosted the launch of Infrastructure Asia, led by Enterprise Singapore and the Monetary Authority of Singapore, to serve as one-stop platform to facilitate regional infrastructure collaboration. Singapore Minister for Finance, Mr. Heng Swee Keat was the Guest of Honour.  At the event, Infrastructure Asia signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with the World Bank Group and the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) to catalyse project collaboration.  Asia is estimated to face an investment gap of US$460 billion annually for infrastructure, and the bankability of projects remains a challenge. To drive and address some of these gaps, Infrastructure Asia will focus on:

  1. Connecting partners in the ecosystem and catalysing collaboration
  2. Building capacity in markets with infrastructure needs through knowledge sharing and training
  3. Providing advice to help improve bankability of projects.

The roundtable was an afternoon programme comprising of plenary sessions and targeted workshops. This year’s discussion focused on topics such as the future of sustainable and tech-enabled infrastructure, how resilience of infrastructure should include themes of sustainability, digital readiness and cybersecurity in today’s context, and how infrastructure should continue to evolve against the backdrop of these new trends.
